Air Preheaters

Rotary Regenerative Air Preheaters Have A Much Reduced Size And Cost Relative To Recuperative Tubular Or Plate Heat Exchangers.

Howden’s air preheaters are engineered to meet the demands of your application. We manufacture our air preheaters in modern facilities based around the world and produce bisector, trisector and quadsector arrangements. We can also provide packaged solutions in either vertical or horizontal alignment.

Our proven VN sealing system ensures that Howden heaters have minimal leakage and thus significantly reduce your operating costs. Other benefits of the VN design include a central drive system, advanced cleaning systems and enhanced maintainability.

Using specialised software we can model and accurately predict the operational and cost advantages of our proposals. Environmental considerations and energy costs make it more important than ever to ensure air preheaters are working at optimised levels.

Why Choose Our Air Preheaters?
  • Our Experience The first company to form a joint venture with Fredrik Ljungström, we have been designing and improving rotary heat exchanger technology ever since.
  • Modern Manufacturing Our state of the art production facilities are staffed by experienced engineers and fully qualified operators.
  • Global Presence, Local Service In our experience, there is no substitute for local support; that’s why we have local teams ready to help.
  • Reputation For Quality We are accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and are regularly audited by major customers and internationally recognised assessment organisations.
  • Research And Development Continual research, development and analysis of both new and aftermarket heaters to optimise product performance and reliability.
  • Element Design We have a wide range of profiles available, enabling us to offer the right balance of thermodynamic performance, pressure drop and ease of cleaning for any situation.
  • Gas Gas Heater Howden Supplied Some Of The World’s First FGD Systems In 1934, And Since Then We Have Become A Leading Supplier Of Gas Gas Heaters. The Howden VN design concept is ideally suited to the FGD Gas Gas Heater application. Judicious selection of materials, together with advanced design features result in a heat exchanger with exceptional resistance to the cool, moist acidic conditions of FGD plant, where fouling and corrosion are a constant challenge. Gas gas heaters can be custom designed and optimised to suit arrangement and client preference. If the GGH is being mounted directly on top of the FGD Absorber, construction of the GGH at ground level and a single lift can reduce costs. We are also able to install a tail end SCR gas preheater if this is required due to the specific set up of your power station – you can read more about this in our brochure. Fans

  • Pre-Engineered Heaters Howden’s Pre-engineered Air Preheaters & Gas Heaters are based on the original regenerative heater design developed in collaboration with the inventor in 1923. The design has been continually enhanced to reach our industry leading levels of thermal efficiency and performance enabling our customers’ vital processes. This underlines Howden’s vision of supporting the world’s industries with sustainable solutions. The pre-engineered product range provides operators looking to recover energy from fired equipment a highly efficient, low maintenance solution in a compact footprint. It can handle flue gas flows of under 50 tonnes per hour to around 200 tonnes per hour and recovered energy can extend to over 15MW depending on gas temperature drop. The heaters are suitable for integration into new plant development as well as replacements of alternative technologies within operational sites. All heaters are fully supported by Howden’s global pre-sales and aftermarket capabilities to ensure ease of project engineering and reliable long-term performance. Fans
